💌 FAB AT FIFTY PLUS: YOUR MIDLIFE LOVE LETTER

Issue No. 1 – Tuesday, June 3, 2025

🖤 From Izzie’s Desk

Hey Fab Fam, Let me just start by saying this: if you're reading this, thank you. Seriously—from the bottom of my heart.

This newsletter has been a long time coming. I created Fab at Fifty Plus because I needed a space exactly like this. A space not for those who always felt fabulous—but for those of us who forgot along the way, for those who never quite tapped into their fabulosity, and yes, for those who are already there and willing to remind the rest of us.

Midlife isn't about fading into the background; it's our moment to shine. It's about taking everything we've learned and everything we've overcome and channeling it into becoming the most authentic, unapologetic version of ourselves.

The challenge, of course, is breaking free from the old mindset we've become accustomed to. Maybe you've felt this way too.

So, welcome to your first Midlife Love Letter. I hope it meets you exactly where you are and gently reminds you—you're not alone on this journey. Whether you’re exactly where you want to be in your fab game or you’re still learning, we're in this together, Fab Fam.

With love, Izzie

Fab Check-In

Midlife Affirmation

I look at my body with all its “flaws”—not with shame, but with gratitude. This body has carried me through every joy, heartbreak, and healing. It’s sacred. I Love it like it’s earned that grace—because it has.

Today’s Midlife Sponsor

Take the bite out of rising vet costs with pet insurance

Veterinarians across the country have reported pressure from corporate managers to prioritize profit. This incentivized higher patient turnover, increased testing, and upselling services. Pet insurance could help you offset some of these rising costs, with some providing up to 90% reimbursement.

Midlife, Loneliness, and the Puppy I Dream About

I didn’t come out of the pandemic craving adventure. I came out craving connection.

Like so many of us, the loneliness of those isolated days changed me. What I wanted most afterward was a pet. A little heartbeat waiting by the door. Something to care for—and be cared by.

I haven’t made the leap, because midlife comes with responsibilities. I work, I travel., and sometimes I’m gone all day. Not to mention the rising cost of everything—including vet bills.

Recently, I found something that made it feel just a little more possible: a way to take the edge off the financial worry of pet ownership — Pet insurance. I’m not ready yet, but If you already have a pet or you’re thinking about it, see the best plans researched and listed by today’s sponsor, Money.com.

Midlife Mind Reset of the Week

You’re not lost. You’re just becoming.
Midlife is messy—but it’s also magic. Don’t let the outside noise make you forget how far you’ve come.

Midlife Mental Wellness

This Week’s Insight: Your Nervous System Isn’t Designed to Thrive in Chaos—And Neither Are You.

That fog you’ve been blaming on age? That irritability you keep calling “hormones”? That constant low-key anxiety wrapped up in a smile and mascara?

Maybe that’s your nervous system waving a white flag.

We live in a culture that treats burnout like a badge of honor. We're expected to juggle everything (kids, aging parents, work deadlines, pelvic floor exercises... seriously?), stay “positive,” and smile while doing it.

Sometimes it’s not you, it’s the overstimulated life you live. Sometimes it’s not a lack of motivation, but your body whispering: “I’m tired.”

We’ve been taught to treat stress as normal. To keep going until we collapse. But guess what?

Your brain, your body, your heart? They’re on your side. They’re trying to warn you.

Try This Mini Reset (takes 60 seconds): Put one hand on your heart. One on your belly. Close your eyes. Inhale slowly for 4 counts, hold for 4, exhale for 6. Say to yourself: “I am safe. I can relax. I can rest.” Do that three times. That’s it. That’s your nervous system reset.

Let’s stop glamorizing the hustle and start honoring the healing. Because your second act shouldn’t be spent surviving. It should be spent soaring.

Expert Insight:

“Rest is not a reward. It’s a right.”

Real Talk: Let’s Go There

No one talks about how lonely midlife can feel.

Even when your life looks full from the outside, it’s easy to feel disconnected—from people, purpose, or even yourself. Your kids don’t need you like they used to. Your friendships may have faded or shifted. And even in a room full of people, it can feel like no one really sees you.

You’re no longer the person you were… but you’re not quite sure who you’re becoming yet.

And that? That’s hard, but its more common than you think.

If no one has told you this lately:
You are not invisible.
You are not alone.
You are not behind.

You are in a powerful transition—and just because it feels quiet doesn’t mean it’s not sacred.

Real talk—Just because they’re around doesn’t mean they get you.

Your Fab Assignment

This week, take five minutes and answer this:

What version of yourself are you becoming—and what does she/he need more of right now?

Don’t overthink it. Just write.
