💌 Fab at Fifty Plus: Your Midlife Love Letter

Issue No. 13 – Tuesday, September 2, 2025

Hey Fab Fam,

How many times did you say "I need" this week?

I need new shoes. I need that gadget. I need to update my kitchen. I need, I need, I need.

We toss that word around like confetti, don't we? But here's what I've been thinking about: Most of what we call needs are really just wants dressed up in fancy clothes.

Don't get me wrong—wanting things is totally normal. But when we mix up our wants with our real needs, we can end up feeling like we're always chasing something just out of reach.

But here's what I've learned after 50-plus trips around the sun: our spirits have needs too. And these can't be bought on Amazon or found at Target.

Your spirit needs peace. Those quiet moments when you're not rushing anywhere or proving anything to anyone.

Your spirit needs purpose. That feeling that what you do matters, even if it's small.

Your spirit needs connection. Real talks with people who get you. Belly laughs. Hugs that last more than two seconds.

And your spirit needs hope. The belief that tomorrow can be better than today, even when today feels hard.

When these four things are in place, something magical happens. Suddenly, you don't need as much stuff to feel good. A simple dinner tastes amazing. A walk around the block feels like a gift. Your regular old life starts feeling pretty wonderful.

I'm not saying to stop wanting things or never buy anything fun. I'm just saying maybe we can slow down the chase a little. Maybe we can check in with ourselves and ask: "Is this a real need or just a want wearing a disguise?"

Because the truth is, when your spirit is fed, you already have most of what you need to feel whole.

This week, try this with me: Before you say "I need," pause for just a second. Ask yourself if it's really a need or just a strong want. No judgment either way—just notice.

You might be surprised by what you discover.

This week find one moment of peace, do one small thing that matters to you, connect with one person who makes you smile, and hold onto one reason to feel hopeful. That's it. Everything else is extra.

With light and love,

Izzie

How 433 Investors Unlocked 400X Return Potential

Institutional investors back startups to unlock outsized returns. Regular investors have to wait. But not anymore. Thanks to regulatory updates, some companies are doing things differently.

Take Revolut. In 2016, 433 regular people invested an average of $2,730. Today? They got a 400X buyout offer from the company, as Revolut’s valuation increased 89,900% in the same timeframe.

Founded by a former Zillow exec, Pacaso’s co-ownership tech reshapes the $1.3T vacation home market. They’ve earned $110M+ in gross profit to date, including 41% YoY growth in 2024 alone. They even reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO.

The same institutional investors behind Uber, Venmo, and eBay backed Pacaso. And you can join them. But not for long. Pacaso’s investment opportunity ends September 18.

Let go of: “I need more things to be happy.”

Claim instead: “I already have what I truly need within me, and I am grateful.”

True gratitude doesn’t mean dimming your desires. It means honoring what you have while still reaching for more. Give yourself permission to want, and to pursue, what lights you up while remembering that your worth isn't tied to getting it.

Start each day by reflecting on what you're grateful for. Gratitude helps us notice what's already good in our lives instead of focusing on what we lack. When we appreciate small things—a warm cup of tea, a kind message, a quiet moment—we feel calmer and less driven to acquire more. Gratitude doesn't mean we stop wanting things. It helps us choose from contentment rather than scarcity. With gratitude, life feels more content.

Gratitude turns “I need more” into “I have enough for today.”

We say "I need" so casually that the word loses its power. The truth? Most of what we call needs are actually wants. When we meet only our physical needs, we feel unfulfilled—because we ignore our spiritual needs. When we fulfill our deeper needs for peace, purpose, connection, and hope, even a simple life feels complete.

Write down three times you said "I need" this week. Label each as a Want, Earthly Need, or Spiritual Need.

For each one, ask yourself:

  • What was I really seeking in that moment?

  • If it was a want, what deeper need might it represent?

  • If it was an earthly need, am I taking care of it appropriately?

  • If it was a spiritual need, how can I nurture this part of myself?

Notice any patterns. Are you confusing wants with needs? Are your spiritual needs getting attention, or are they disguised as material desires?

Choose one spiritual need from your list and commit to one small way you'll honor it this week. ✍🏽
